Some Screen shots from the main Violin District block out. Still need to put some paraphernalia like signs in place then it should be good to go.

Environment/Asset Design- The Violin District- Carriage's and Caboose

Here are the orthographies for the Carriage designs, both interior and exterior

Below are designs for the Caboose that comes at the end of the train. Design 6 was the preference so I went ahead and created the orthographics for that as well.

Environment/Asset Design - Violin Trains and Carriages

Red makes his way through the Violin District by train, so aside from the Engine there also ended to be carriages. Below are some of the initial interiors. And the development of Interior 1, showing both the interior and exterior.

The scene in which Red finds himself aboard is slightly abstracted, and the carriage 'draws' itself into existence, so below we have the purely outlined version followed by the full colour version as the train pulls away.

Environment/Asset Design- Violin District/ Clarinet District- Signage and Trains

I've been creating a few more assets. mainly signage for each district, below we have some for the industrious Clarinet District. below that some signs for the Violin district. Finally i have been revisiting the Violin Trains based on the previous feedback. I tried out another colour palette for it as well.

Environment/Asset Design- The Overture and Violin assets

Expanding further on the Overture, I revisited the first post and added a little more detail, ready for further feature shots of the surrounding area.

I'll be working on other views of the overture space soon, but to take a break I've started to look into the minutiae of the script. Particular elements and assets Red interacts with or comes to see in the districts. One such thing are the trains speeding through the Violin district.

Below are some renditions of a Violin Steam engine. (I felt steam perhaps fit better with the old wooden scroll work of the violin) Carriages are next on the to-do list, both interior and exterior view points.

Environment/Asset Design- The Violin District

I may have gone in small circles working out some more on the Violin district. I kept forgetting the key point- That Red passes throughout the violin district at speed. We need to see it in less detail than perhaps other districts. All the same, below I have some conceptual buildings and concept art. I  found my way eventually by designing silhouettes of the Violin District City skyline.

As of tomorrow I'm working on the regal wonders of the Trombone and Tuba District.

Environment Design- The Violin District Concepts

These are my attempts to understand the Violin district in the UPA style. It's proving to be a challenge!! I need to simplify a lot further. And perhaps space things out a little more.... Its a bit cramped!

Environment/Asset Design- Trumpet and Violin District

I started to try to build taller lankier structures in regard to the trumpets. I'm not sure I fully achieved the look but the experiments were still fun.

The page below was an attempt at creating distant background structures that could be copy-pasted en-masse. I went back to the trumpet after trying to create bridge elements for the Violin district and finding I'm getting caught up in details and struggling with ideas. I think attempting something entirely based in simplicity has helped relax my brain a little.

'If a violin produces its music from its strings- and strings can lead an entire orchestra- then lines, wires, and rails as thrumming, vibrating conduits for energy, power and momentum is very much the signature image of the Violin District.'

My initial Violin bridge designs may be a little too detailed. The district needs to consist of predominantly simple elements, similar to Trumpets 11-13 above, as Red whizzes by on the train.

Next time I may just stick with a silhouette and an outline to insinuate various shapes for layering up. I also need to tackle these designs from different perspectives and include a multitude of levels.

I like the idea of creating bridges that climb... (or decline) perhaps incorporating cable-cars and funicular railways? Hopefully I can mix the violins curves and straight strings into an interesting multi-levelled environment.

Environment Design: The Violin District / The District

Trying to keep up with this project as we approach December. It's a huge relief to have Emily on board producing great assets ready for production. So, here are a few from my end, exploring the Harp and Violin districts. I still want to get some composition thumbnails here, especially for the Violin district as I feel that could be almost abstract in it's criss-cross of strings.
