I have tried to add multilayers to the base, giants causeway style but the layers of districts have covered the vast majority of that mix in levels. Perhaps I should just make them more extreme...?

Environment/Asset Design- The Kingdom of Sound- Facsimile Basin
Working into the facsimile design a little more here. I tried out having glowing outlines and a fill, versus purely glowing outlines. Which do you prefer?

I like the empty version - reads more clearly. I think it might help you in terms of cramming more content in if you imagine that the facsimile and open out beyond the 'footprint' of the diagram - so a bit like one of those tables were 'wings' can flip up/over to extend the original surface area - in terms of visual balance, I think it will help too to include the hemisphere shape underneath the diagram, so the whole thing is sitting on a demi-sphere as opposed to a flat shelf. Personally, I think it's coming along rather well so you should continue with confidence :)
